PHOENIX Oct. 26, 2015 – Honeywell Aerospace (NYSE: HON) employee Barbara Brockett, vice president of Engineering Test Services, was honored by The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) with the Suzanne Jenniches Upward Mobility Award at the annual WE15 conference, for women in engineering and technology. The award recognizes a female engineer whose position allows her to influence decision-making processes and create a nurturing environment for other women engineers.
Brockett has championed strategic initiatives including the Honeywell Aerospace Women’s Council, Women and Honeywell Engineering Network, and the corporate engineering diversity organization recruiting program. She has also been a leader in establishing Honeywell’s participation and engagement in SWE, and in particular the annual WE15 conference where she sponsored a team to implement sustainable, cost-effective improvements. Through SWE and other connections, Brockett has mentored and created opportunities for women in the field of engineering.
“As I advanced in my career, I noticed there were only a handful of female engineers in leadership, and the pipeline did not represent diverse talent. Over the years, SWE has been a foundation and inspiration, enabling my colleagues and me to deploy new programs for hiring, developing, and advancing women and minority engineers,” said Brockett. “Today, I work with many talented and diverse engineers who are collaborating in exciting ways to produce sustainable outcomes for our company.”

She leads a 2,160-employee organization spanning 28 global sites that are responsible for the development and delivery of test solutions for all Honeywell Aerospace products. She has achieved a number of significant leadership accomplishments including:
- System development and aircraft modification for Honeywell’s full-scale drones
- Development of Honeywell’s first fly-by-wire system
- Certification of the Primus Epic integrated avionics system on nine aircraft
- Introduction of synthetic vision on business jet and military helicopters
